Aluminium Blinds and Metal Blinds

When people talk about aluminium blinds they are usually referring to venetian blinds which use aluminium slats, the alternate slat material is wood which is usually more expensive and has it’s disadvantages, but that’s for another article, today we are going to look at the advantages of aluminium venetian blinds.

Price

The main advantage of aluminium blinds over wooden blinds is that they cost a lot less to manufacture which means the price difference is then forwarded to you, the consumer, in the form of discounts and special offers.

Waterproof

In rooms that can become steamy wooden slats can become damp and warp. Unlike the wooden alternative, aluminium does not warp when damp, this means you can use them in your bathroom or kitchen with no fear of ruining them.

Large Widths

Aluminium is available in much larger widths than real wood, this means you can purchase aluminium blinds in much larger widths, sometimes up to 5 meters. Aluminium is also a lighter material which means the other components can handle the weight easily.

The lighter weight also eases the force required to control the blinds, which is very helpful if you have a large blind to control.

Easy to clean

Due to aluminium being a very smooth material, dust only rests on the surface rather than being trapped within a fabric. Which means you can easily wipe it off with a dry cloth, if you somehow end up with dirt on your slats then you should be able to remove it with a warm damp cloth.

Diverse colour options

The range of colours available is huge which is great when you are looking for that specific colour or tone to match your decor. The reason there is a wide range of colours is that they are basically painted aluminium, which means there are a massive number of colours available, any good supplier will stock a few hundred.

Environmentally Friendly

Wooden blinds have a negative effect on the environment, to make a wooden blind you need to cut down a tree, most suppliers will then not replant a tree, which means they are contributing to the problem of deforestation, which has an impact on us all as it means there are less trees to take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen. It is arguable that aluminium is much more friendly to the environment which could sway your purchase decision.
